A fine French Louis XV style kingwood parquetry satinwood and maple marquetry chest of drawers commode from the first half of the 20th century.
Finely constructed from top grade solid wood, exquisitely hand-crafted, the skilled artisan using old world techniques of tongue and groove, mortise and tenon and dovetail joinery to create this beautiful and long lasting 18th century antique reproduction.
Finished in luxurious Rocco taste, having a shapely bombe (bombay) form case fitted with three spacious drawers, each with beautifully curved serpentine shaped drawer front adorned in sophisticatled contrasting marquetry inlays framed by intricate cross-band inlays, affixed with brass fiolate scroll pulls; flanked by ornate gilt bronze ormolu mounts, exuberant scrolling foliate floral marquetry sides, over a curvacious scalloped apron with gilt metal trim edge, gracefully rising on French bracket feet terminating in ornate sabots; topped with the original fitted verde antico green white veined marble top.
A superb example, that has been very well cared for, strong and sturdy, it presents beautifully, and is extremely versatile, used as a bedroom dresser, or dining room server, sideboard or credenza for additional storage, hall console, or placed in the foyer as a stunning entry piece, it will add a touch of elegant sophistication and classic warmth to any home.
