Rare and beautiful pair of 18th century French Empire tin and brass sconces attributed to either Quinquet or Deharme, circa … more Rare and beautiful pair of 18th century French Empire tin and brass sconces attributed to either Quinquet or Deharme, circa 1760-1780. These have (obviously) been converted to electric and were in use up until a couple years ago, when the home they were installed in, was sold and renovated.

The tin bodies are painted in a deep, rich red and handpainted in a combination of stars and bellflowers in gold...a great color combination. The brass mount plate is plain red.

Condition is quite good, given the age of these pieces. There is age/use appropriate wear that includes a couple small dents, fracture, glue(?) at base of one orb, limited paint flaking, crazing, some inpainting, a few pinholes and a little solder repair. Note that there is are a couple little white paint spots.

Measure: 11” tall, 6.75” deep, 3.75” wide. less
