Symplicity, elegance and beauty: that is what Beni M’Guild’s rugs represent. The Aït M’Guild, known as Beni M’Guild rug are a large Berber tribe that was called before the Aït Oumalou. The rug featuring a geometric zigzag pattern in various colour palettes. They are originally thick, deep pile rugs that were made for protection against the harsh winters and climate of the Middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco. It’s characterized by the usage of a different set of geometric motifs, tiny details and tribal symbols on a colored area, but also very often, no specific symbols or geometric forms but only one radiant color. Most of the cases, they are also reversible. This rug is the real expression of the creativity of the Berber woman, combining all her intuitions as well as the skills and techniques she acquired with the years to be able to create such a precious masterpiece. The weavers use pure and healthy wool as a raw material to weave these carpets. In summer, when the temperature gets warmer, you can use the underside part, which is flat woven and if the rug has motifs, you can then appreciate all the gorgeous details of the carpet.
