However, there is some wear to the walnut wood. Scuffing and nicks as to be expected in any vintage piece. I think these add a good feeling of history and add to the antique character of the chairs. A pair of vintage William & Mary Style English Walnut Chairs. Handsome and substantial statement pieces with high backs, carved slopped arms, curvy “H” stretchers, and “S” scroll carved legs, volute and acanthus carved details throughout.
Upholstered in a beautifully understated geometric low pile velvet jacquard in warm hues of burgundy, red, coral, mauve, and gold with accents of sage and olive green with piped detail. The backs are upholstered as well.
Useful as head-of-the-table armchairs, occasional or hall chairs. They were purchased at a sale at the Atkinson Hotel in Indianapolis (now called the Omni.) We are unsure of their age but we have had them for 40 years and they were old when we got them. less
