Fischler, a 20th-Century, American Regional painter of landscape genres. Looks more like a red milling barn; a concise, two point perspective painting, where the eye leads you to the bright yellow corbel corner bracket, amongst the opening entry to the barn, with light filtering thru in the afternoon sun. A dormer to the roof, a metal shoot leading outward from the barn, wooden horses leaning against a pile of wood, a metal drum in the background near the standing post, an almost indiscernible wooden ladder leaning against one end of the exterior barn wall, within the shadings of the trees, huge pieces of trees cut down and strewn about, ready to be milled, with a cleared, meandering open trailed, foot path, and lush vegetation and forrest surrounding this location, giving off a sense of serenity to the surroundings. The artist was quite talented, and adept in the use of a lush, color palette, but most importantly, being able to transport this, in painterly, free form, with layered, impasto-like brush strokes . Signed and dated, front lower left hand corner, Fischler '40. Would look wonderful; reframed and floated to offset the beauty and vibrancy of this piece, a true historical treasure, this dioramic vista, becoming more extinct. We could picture this over a stone hearth fireplace, or among a New England dining room, etc. In great condition for era, with some paint loss, chipping. Probably due to not having an extensive, undercoated gesso preparation of canvas prior to painting, including the elements of storage, or display of any oil or acrylic paintings in temperature controlled environments. Canvas dimensions, 35.50" x 1.50" x 29.75". less
