Gorgeous Burmese (Myanmar) silver bowl from late 18th/early 19th century.
Diameter: 9” diameters x 5.75”(H)
This large repoussé decorated silver bowl has 6 panels showing deities as well as other traditional figures and scenes. In fantastic condition for age, with outstanding workmanship. Burmese silver bowls were based on the form of the ‘thabeik‘ bowl or a begging bowl, used for collecting food for and by the local monks, with time they evolved and became more ornamental and were used by the Burmese aristocracy and European clients as ornamental and decorative objects.
