Contemporary Akhnif / Zanafi style flat-weave Moroccan kilim rug. It is almost impossible to imagine, but this rug is Hand-knotted from 100% hand-spun wool and 100% natural dyes. The detail and perfection of the craftsmanship of this rug is mind blowing (which is why we've added a million detail photos - you must see!) Visually complex yet overall neutral in tone, this rug will hold your attention for years and last many lifetimes. Great for high traffic areas - the most durable natural rug you will find!
8'6" x 5'1" ft (259x155 cm) with 4" tassels on bottom and 2” bound raw edge on top.
Contemporary / Akhnif-Zanafi mix / 100% Wool / Flat woven
100% hand-spun wool warp and weft.
All natural dyes.
Please note: Center crease from folding rug will flatten out once rug is laid out in place.
Contemporary Moroccan rugs are new rugs handmade in the same manner as they have been made for hundreds of years. These new contemporary versions can be found in almost any size or color you choose. They can even be custom made to order to a design of your choosing. Unlike vintage rugs which were confined by the size of the personal looms found within the homes of the Amazigh (Berber) women, the newer contemporary rugs are often made outside of the home where women from the village will come to work together on new pieces. This is a great opportunity for women to earn money as well as support the tradition of hand making rugs so that it continues to be passed on through generations. less
