In the 1950's these lamps were made for the purpose of giving a bit of light, without brightening the entire room. Just a bit of light while watching T.V., hence giving them the title of T.V. lamp. I love them more for mood lighting though. This ceramic jet black panther is ultra cool as well. I like a panther in any decor don't you? less
