A rare period Georgian very fine quality antique country English child's elbow chair, dating to the late 18th to early 19th century. Exquisitely hand-crafted of dark rich mahogany, having gracefully curved stiles, eared, chamfered octagonal shaped turned lower back slat, elegantly curved frame with shapely armrest handholds over hand turned supports, fitted with a removable sliding mahogany seat cover, slides off to reveal reinforced circular cutout. Wonderful, museum quality condition, with beautiful original patina over the whole.
An exceptional example, it makes for a uniquely charming decorative accent piece.
Provenance:
Retaining a paper tag from Mytton Antiques, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. Jerrard Nares initially learnt the antiques trade by working for well regarded firms in London and New York before taking over the family business in Shropshire.
