The moulding is a simple stained wood that the edges have been rubbed to show the raw wood underneath. I have found this to be the best black moulding ever as the edge softens the black and the matte finish is just right. The birds prints are CFA Edition images printed on acid free cotton rag paper with archival inks. These Olof Rudbeck Birds have been spotted in numerous magazines. Framing is done in Georgia with a dust cover on the back and a wire for easy hanging. We use acrylic for the glazing to make this lighter, safer and easier to ship without damage.
The sizes of the pieces vary so I will list them here to try and make it easy to understand. If you group them like I have the picture the space needed is 99 inches wide and 62 inches tall. This can change a little depending on how you space the art.
The Swan in the bottom middle is 32.75 inches tall and 32.75 inches wide.
The Grebe and Diver which are on the top left and top right are 25.75 inches wide and 21.75 inches tall.
The two Curlews in the top middle are 19.75 inches wide and 25.75 inches tall.
The two Sea Gulls on the bottom left and right are 23.75 inches wide and 25.75 inches tall.
All these birds were illustrated by Olof Rudbeck the Younger when he was commissioned by King Charles the 11th of Sweden to illustrate the birds of the realm (in Lapland but "the Realm" sounded pretty cool) in 1695. These illustrations were kept in a portfolio in a basement and forgotten over time. They were rediscovered in the late 1980s and first published in limited edition. In 2016 CFA Editions had the original watercolors scanned and these prints are from those scans. The paper was a creamy yellow color but has been modified to an off white to go nicely on a wall that is the very popular Benjamin Moore White Dove. Some damage to the original images has been repaired but they still have little specks and defects which give the charm of a watercolor from the 1700s.
