Palin Thorley was an English Staffordshire potter (1892-1987) from a multi-generational family of potters. Having trained and worked for Wedgwood and Allerton in England, he was very proud of his authentic techniques and styles, and loved the fact that his work would certainly pass for Vintage wares save for his signature on the bottom of all his work. He eventually emigrated to the United States where he produced traditional glazed and lustre glazed wares for Colonial Williamsburg and independently in the mid 20th century. His expertise with silver lustre glaze in particular led to his patronage by Colonial Williamsburg to recreate vessels from fragments discovered in archeological digs there. Mid 20th century. Very good condition, variations in glaze, light wear to bottom of the vessel.
