- Antique mahogany lap desk is from England circa 1880. Every gentleman and lady had one of these boxes. The inside … more Antique mahogany lap desk is from England circa 1880. Every gentleman and lady had one of these boxes. The inside has a leather desk in the interior that opens on the top and the bottom for correspondent storage. There is also an inkwell, key and pen. The box has a brass plate on the top that could be engraved. This box would be perfect for a small table if a base was made for it. less
