An exceptionally carved Chinese wall plaque from the late 19th century. Hand carved from a single block of wood, the impressive sculptural temple panel featuring highly decorative scrolling openwork background, wonderful tracery design with charming sense of motion. Having a shaped top adorned in incised detailing, over central Foo Dog relief carving with bat wing form stylized scroll acanthus leaf, over figural pair depicting traditional ancient Chinese bearded scholars.
