Rare antique circa 1920s 'Mitterteich' Bavarian footed plate with a platinum ‘Foxhunting Scene’ embossed on the center medallion. A scalloped, embossed platinum trim with hounds embossed and a center trim of flowers all on a vibrant cobalt blue porcelain ground. Will polish up nicely if so desired.
The history of Mitterteich factory starts in 1887. It was established by Ludwig Lindner. In 1895 the factory was taken over by Mosanic Pottery Max Emanuel & Co. from London. The company was confiscated by Bavarian authorities during World War I. From 1917 on, it was called Porzellanfabrik Mitterteich A.G. Because of rising demand in 1925 a second facility was constructed and another one in 1937. It ceased operations in 2006.
