~ This glamorous mid-century ice bucket features a beautiful gold leaf accented swirl pattern on a green background, which became known as the "Toledo" pattern of Culver Glass Company. It is signed on the green backdrop. The "Toledo" pattern became a popular design among the other Spanish-themed Culver patterns produced in the 1960's.
In the late 1950’s, Culver Ltd began applying 22-karat gold to their glassware. The process of super-heated, roll-on gold remains a secret today. Known for its lavish designs, the company gained notoriety throughout mid-century and graced homes and offices, alike. It was sold in high-end department and specialty stores. Culver products have subsequently become very collectible.
