Born in 1944 to a French family with a 400 year history of being artists. His original gallery exhibit was sponsored by Salvador Dali, an admirer. After multi country European study Gaugy moved to the U.S. in 1966.and introduced his Linear Abstract Expressionism here.
This black, white and grey Substantial painting is an ideal of linear form with function and luminosity, an ideal which articulates his original style "Linear Expressionism" .- a blend of sculpture, painting and luminosity in his signature style. In honor of Gaugy, in 2002 " The Awakening Museum" was installed in Sante Fe, New Mexico.
This 2013 painting was installed by the artist himself in the owner's penthouse, thus establishing provenance. This short lived period of creativity in Boca Raton,Florida established a very limited amount of treasured work. It is rare to find a piece from this inspired time by this artist collected by the aesthetic elite- governments, major corporations, celebrity and royalty.
Sold by the original owner, It was hung by the artist himself and his wife in my penthouse.. less
