Ready to hang or frame. on birch board.

Artist Statement…
   It all comes down to the feeling of a painting for me. I create abstract, abstract expressionism and impressionism in my art. No medium will be discounted, but I do tend to use oil paints the most. Lately I have been using oil pastels with oil paint, which create an exciting dynamic. The sea and beach are very inspiring and intriguing to me and always have been. Many of my abstract paintings will turn into the beach or ocean without me being conscious of that decision. I will lay down colors with an idea, using oils then adding other materials as needed. Mostly I work spontaneously and the painting will take me where it will.

I was drawn to oil painting because of the expressive qualities I can create. Communicating my feelings of the moment through paint is my goal. What is going on in the world around us is important to me. The meditative feel of moving paint around a canvas and the therapeutic application of color is what I crave. 

I'm drawn to impressionist painting, inspired by Post Impressionism. Van Gogh, Renoir, Degas, Lucian Freud and Jenny Saville are inspirations. 

Showing the viewer part of the story and letting them form their own impression is my goal. I intend to infuse humor, story telling, abstract and detail elements in my paintings. Animal and figurative portraits inspire me and give voice to some of the most important emotions of the human condition.
