At this … Read more This painting was created by Olympic discus thrower Alfred Oerter, American (1936–2007) for charity for the 1980 Olympics. At this time he developed the technique of pouring paint onto the canvas and then throwing his discus at the pooled up paint to create a splatter all over the canvas. He utilized that technique in this painting, there is a tear in the canvas from where the discus hit the canvas, and there is pooled up paint in the same area. The acrylic on canvas painting is signed and dated in the lower right, and measures 98 x 48 inches framed. See less
