This is an intriguing piece of artisan clay sculpture of a young peasant Asian man sitting peacefully and reading a scroll. It is crafted with terracotta and has a high glaze on the body, black hat, and urn. The face and hands are matte terracotta. The face of the young man is subtly detailed yet dramatic. The figure is hand-painted with attention to detail and is heavier than expected. It is an exceptional sculpture to adorn any setting.
