This Henri Matisse rare vintage 1983 Mourlot fine art lithograph print custom framed Paris exhibition poster is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The lithograph print exhibition poster is published by the famous Galerie Berggruen Paris, printed in France in 1983 in an unnumbered limited edition by Mourlot Paris, copyright S.P.A.D.E.M. on the occasion of the exhibition. It features an artwork originally created by Matisse in 1950.
Henri Matisse ( 1869 - 1954 ) The French born artist is known for both his sense of color and fluid aesthetic. Matisse is commonly regarded, along with Picasso as one of the most important artists who helped to define and influence radical Contemporary Art of The 20th Century. His mastery of the expressive language of color and drawing won him recognition as a leading figure in world Modern Art. Artworks by Matisse are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The venerable famous printing house of Imprimerie Mourlot Paris was founded in 1852 by the Mourlot family. It is known worldwide for its fine art lithography printing, and one of their most important contributions was to be the art poster. Mourlot became the place where posters were prepared and produced as works of art in their own right.
The Galerie Berggruen in Paris was founded in 1947 by an art dealer and collector Heinz Berggruen ( 1914 - 2007 ). The gallery under the direction of Berggruen played a major role in the Post World War II reception and dissemination of Modern Art, representing such influential artists as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Paul Klee among many others. Berggruen cultivated one of the most important private collections of Modern European Art in The 20th Century.
The rare out of print fine art lithograph print framed exhibition poster measures 18 1/2" W X 28 5/8" H X 7/8" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a classic Modern matte eggshell finish black wood frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " vintage condition consistent with age and very light signs of handling.
