Description: Purchased from Gump’s San Francisco on March 30, 1983 by a relative, the carved smoke crystal water buffalo with calf … more Purchased from Gump’s San Francisco on March 30, 1983 by a relative, the carved smoke crystal water buffalo with calf is of museum quality. A copy of the appraisal letter from Gump’s San Francisco dated March 30, 1983 will be included.
The smoke color is outstanding and the hand carved fitted base has some wear and a small piece of the wood has broken away, however, the item dates from 1862 - 75.
The piece is Qing Dynasty, elegant and restrained in every characteristic.
