This Gustav Klimt rare vintage 1987 lithograph print Metropolitan Museum of Art large poster " Portrait of Mada Primavesi " 1912. is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The large museum poster print is published by The Metropolitan Museum of Art New York, printed in 1987 in an unnumbered limited edition. It features an artwork image originally created by Klimt in 1912 titled " Portrait of Mada Primavesi ".
Gustav Klimt ( 1862 - 1918 ) was an Austrian Symbolist painter and of the most prominent members of The Vienna Secession Movement. Klimt was one of the most radical artists of The Twentieth century. Through his intensely decorative and erotic style, he pushed the boundaries of traditional artistic convention, paving the way for Modernists of the future. Artworks by Klimt are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
In 1912, Klimt painted a portrait of a nine year old girl, Mada Primavesi. The portrait is historically known as Klimt's only major work featuring a child. She was the daughter of Eugenia and Otto Primavesi, her parents were known for hosting decadent salon like gatherings and for their support of progressive Viennese art and design. The original painting " Portrait of Mada Primavesi " is held in the permanent collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
