They depict a … more A very fine pair of matched opposing Japanese Satsuma cabinet plates with exquisitely hand painted opposing scenes. They depict a simple lakeside village in the background with swimming Mandarin Ducks in the foreground. The ducks are gorgeous in colour especially the male. Decorated further with multi coloured 'gold outlined' chrysanthemums on each side which are beautifully executed.
Each is signed on the underside with the gold over red fired mark as shown. Similar to mark by Kozan.
Finely edged gold and wine coloured geometric border.
Late Meiji or Taisho period, early 20th Century.

Condition is excellent. No damage or repair.
