Elegant and particular table lamp in Murano glass from the color light hazelnut, the bell shape is well-proportioned and very refined, has a single point of light inside positioned at the bottom, the round base is made of sturdy brass, polished and finished brush, on it protrudes the switch for the ignition, the most important feature of our lamp is the uniqueness of its workmanship: the filigree "reticello". This is a technique dating back to the sixteenth century and widely resumed in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, provides for the use of transparent glass rods containing threads of milky or colored glass, is one of the most difficult hot techniques to perform and is entrusted only to old Masters glassmakers; “reticello" glass is made using two cylindrical blown objects with a "half filigree", i.e. covered with rods, each containing a thread of lactide or colored glass. A first cylinder called "male" is fixed to the blowpipe. This, after being subjected to a slight torsion, is blown inside another cylinder (the "femena") of a slightly larger diameter, detached from the barrel and open on top, with the "half filigree" threads arranged in an inverse direction. The "male" is then blown again, in order to completely adhere to the walls of the two glass cylinders and create a single cylinder in which, due to the overlapping of the "wire rods" of the two cylinders arranged in opposite directions, there will be a sort of net lace, which contains an air bubble in each mesh. The bubbles, uniformly arranged and of equal size, are an integral and characteristic part of the prestigious "reticello" filigree. The lamp was created in Murano between 1938 and 1940, we can attribute it to the Aureliano Toso Company since the "reticello" processing was a difficult and typical technique used in the chandeliers of this prestigious company in the '30s and '40s; these objects were in fact designed by the Venetian painter and designer Corrado "Dino" Martens (1894-1970); endowed with a great sensitivity for glass, he was able to understand its potential, establishing a special harmony with this material, which he learned to know and shape according to his bold design intuitions; he had precision and attention to detail that led him in 1939 to become artistic director of the Aureliano Toso Glassworks, with which he established a prolific relationship that ended in 1963. The collaboration led to the production of unique and incomparable objects such as our lamp that with the technique of "reticello" make it a unique piece of its kind for elegance and grandeur, able to embellish and evaluate any type of environment. We have attached some explanatory photos of the processing "reticello". The electrical system is new but the wiring is European, the compatibility of the voltage in other states must always be verified by an electrician before use.
