Description: This primitive/ antique Handpainted decorative small chest is in original paint with Pa Fracture designs. On the lid and 3 … more This primitive/ antique Handpainted decorative small chest is in original paint with Pa Fracture designs. On the lid and 3 sides are hand painted bulbous hearts and tulips designs. And as well a few hex designs. Scrolling vine decorations add to the wonderful designs. Under the lid has at some time been painted yellow, there can be seen the outlines of tulip designs, also a candle tray or till with no lid. Some crackling can be seen on some of the paint which adds to this wonderful painted chest. There is a an original lock and clasp, there is no key. Applied moldings on the lid and base moldings make a truly great finish on this chest. The darker paint is very dark green and does not show well in the pictures. Size 28.1/4” x 15” x 13.1/4” approx. This chest is made from old growth timber. There seems to have been a repair to the top right hand side of the applied molding. This chest is very likely from Leigh County Pa. A chest with similar design can be seen at the Philadelphia Art Museum. less
