This is a great multiple use decorative piece, when I found this I thought it would be great
for floating a gardenia, then I thought the bowl could be used for ice and that opened
a lot of possibilities.....such as shell fish with ice in the bowl and the pierced top to hold the
fish, and of course butter patties. It really is a beauty doing nothing.......
The maker is Rogers Smith of New Haven Conn. 1873.......the pierced top is #1233
and that # appears on the bowl as well.......
