Your child will need a chair to sit at the desk. The bench seat in the front of the desk is positioned to sit behind a desk, which was the classic set-up in most American classrooms at the turn of the 19th century.

The desk shows distress from years, if not decades, of use in a classroom. This would also make a great statement piece and could be used as a bench seat, etc.
