J & E Norton Stoneware Jug. Cobalt Decorated. Two Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "J. & E. Norton, Bennington, VT."
This is the mark of Julius Norton and his cousin Edward Norton who worked together in the family pottery from 1850-1859. Holds the potter's stamp with cobalt wash and one of the signature Norton decorations: Swirl Leaves in Exceptional Cobalt Applied with a Slip Cup.
