It originally came from … more This is a matted vintage haute couture fashion print by Christian Dior that dates to 1951. It originally came from a 1951 haute coutre French fashion magazine. It is original to 1951 and NOT a recent reproduction. The image features an evening dress in white tulle with silver embroidery and a taffeta coat. The black and white image showcases the design in a setting with men in formal wear. Note the high horizon line and the offset postioning of the featured fashion. These are characteristic stylized graphic elements typical of Rene Gruau. Gruau was a creative genius well known for his fashion drawings with bold use of color and graphic details. The creative friendship between Christian Dior and the illustrator Rene Gruau was a collaboration which celebrated a special spirit which continued for many years, even after Dior’s death in 1957. The image is 9.25 x 12 inches in size. Excellent clean condition. Will come matted in a white 16 x 20 inch mat ready for a standard size frame. Please allow time for custom matting.
