The Palestine … more From William Adams IV & Sons, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, a purple transferware plate in the Palestine pattern, circa 1829–1861.
The Palestine pattern is inspired by the Holy Land that lies between the Mediterranean and the Dead Seas. A Romantic themed plate showing an ornate gazebo in the Eastern taste on a river bank. Minarets, domes, and mountains can be seen in the distance. The border has multiple cartouches showing a repeated scene of a horse and two figures, alternating with floral medallions. The earthenware plate is slightly scalloped.
Marked: A floral cartouche with the pattern name, impressed Adams.
