The quality of the carving is undeniable. The inner frame, closer to the central beveled glass is adorned with gadroon shaped motifs. The artist showed a perfect balance between the elegant carved areas and the smoother ones, creating a perfectly harmonious frame. With this mirror we are in the presence of ultimate refinement. The Régence period didn’t last long and allowed a perfect transition of power between Louis XIV and his great-grandson Louis XV who was too young to reign when Louis XIV died.
