Born in the early years of the reign of King Louis XV, This French walnut commode features a slightly raised rectangular top with rounded corners and bevelled edges, sitting above two drawers, each grooved on the side for the runner. Each drawer is adorned with incised cartouches, surrounding the delicate hardware. The sides are decorated with simple panels and are showing a lovely bombé silhouette, alternative convex and concave shapes. The beautifully scalloped skirt connects the cabriole legs to one another. With its graceful Louis XV lines and lovely patina, this French two-drawer commode, circa 1730 will bring an elegant presence to any home, whether placed in a bedroom, living room or foyer. less
