A fine group showing 2 male and 2 female hunters along with the spoils of the chase. Each plate titled beneath image with lines of appropriate verse in German and Latin.
Johann Elias Ridinger (1698-1767) was a German painter and engraver who studied at Ulm before establishing himself in Augsburg where he soon made a great reputation for animal paintings. He became the official painter for several great nobles, aficionados of the hunt. As here he represented animals accurately in the midst of well-worked landscapes. less
