A scene from the New York crowded streets, named by the artist " Seeing New York"
The artist was born in Vidin, Bulgaria 1885. Lived in Bucharest, Romania, attended school in Vienna, Austria and later in Munich, Germany, were he started working as artist and illustrator. In 1905 he moved to Paris and become a leading Modernist. In 1914 he immigrated to New York .During the 1920's he exhibited in both Paris and New York and traveled extensively. In 1930, severely depressed he committed suicide in Paris.
Stamped signature lower right, inscribed "epreuve d'artiste" ( artist proof) in pencil lower left, titled within the plate. Etching with roulette and plate tone on paper
Guilt frame, canvas matting under glass, ready to be displayed
Measurements: Approx. plate size 4.75" x 5 7/8 in., framed 13.75" x 12.75". Weigh 1 lb. 13 oz.
Condition: Very good overall. Unobtrusive toning, not examined out of frame. Please see photos. All original.
