*Founded in 1742, Sweden’s oldest glass company, Kosta Boda, has a reputation as the country’s most artistic and experimental glassmaker. The glassworks’ early products consisted of everyday glassware, such as bottles, windowpanes, but also glass chandeliers and similar items. As the company recruited master craftsmen from Bohemia, it created fine crystal for an aristocratic clientele. Manufacturing now takes place at the principal glassworks in Kosta and at Åfors Glassworks.

*Kjell Engman (1946—) is a Swedish visual artist with unbounded imagination and a passion for narrative, who finds free expression through both utility glass and art glass. He gets his inspiration from the most diverse sources, not least from the animal kingdom and the world of music and entertainment. He often works on large installations in which he also combines elements of sound and light. Kjell Engman is frequently commissioned for public works both in Sweden and abroad. less
