Description: This exceptionally beautiful side table is reflective of the 18th century Chinese Cippendale style (named after the famous English cabinetmaker, … more This exceptionally beautiful side table is reflective of the 18th century Chinese Cippendale style (named after the famous English cabinetmaker, Thomas Chippendale, who wrote a book of furniture designs, Gentlemen and Cabinet-Maker’s Director, published in 1754, 1755 and 1762.)
The period piece is formed from mahogany and boasts an elaborate gilded Chinese fretwork design, C-scrolls, flowers, leaves, and acanthus leaves all of which are raised on cluster column or bamboo based leg design.

Such works inspired by the Far East were remarkably popular during the Georgian period. Today, period Chinese Chippendale furniture is exceptionally rare.
