Delicately modeled ceramic decoration, designed by James Hadley, features a girl in Regency/ neoclassical dress leaning against a large oval basket on a tree stump. She wears a sun bonnet and buckle shoes. Her face is reminiscent of Roman busts with the double row of curls above her brow. She is enjoying the sun on her face while daydreaming (about being the heroine in a Jane Austen novel). The hands and arms are especially delicate and graceful and barely touch the basket.

The piece is glazed in a narrow palette of olive green and burnt orange/ rust. The skin is alabaster white.

MARKINGS. Marked on bottom with purple Royal Worcester maker's mark as well as stamped mark and numbers under glaze.
MADE in England circa 1880 by Royal Worcester.
MEASURES 6-3/4" x 7-1/2" x 9.
