The intricate … Read more This antique Chinese library chair was uniquely crafted and can also be used as a shelf. (see photo). The intricate "relief" carvings of traditional Chinese calligraphy of "double happiness" and "flower and vase" design decorate the back splat of the chair. The carvings on the chair are very delicate and three-dimensional. The front panel underneath the seat is carved into an "arch" shape". The chair can be opened and used as a display shelf. The chair is handcrafted and structured with wooden pegs and a tenon structure, which is the very traditional craftsmanship for furniture making in ancient China. Made with the core of Elm wood with beautiful wood grain, this chair is very solid, has been kept in excellent condition. Circa early of 19th century. See less
