Ok, so it is just a basket and could easily be replaced with a plastic bag from your local grocery store. But doesn't the effort put into cultivation deserve to be presented with dignity, let alone with a smaller carbon footprint? It appears that my late-Mother felt that way, and well before it was the trend to do so. Whether forward-thinking or fond reminiscence, the logic of this basket compelled her to buy and use it, albeit in a semi-retired capacity but always for maximum visual impact.
