Description: 19th C. Chinese apothecary cabinets with paper labels in fine condition. These were purchased on a trip to China in … more 19th C. Chinese apothecary cabinets with paper labels in fine condition. These were purchased on a trip to China in the late 1990s. (There are export seals on backs confirming they were approved for export.) In China, the doctor and pharmacist were the same person and the apothecary chest was used for storage of minerals and herbs that were included in natural medicine. Many of the paper labels used to identify the herbs and minerals are still present on these chests. These cabinets have 20 drawers divided into 12 parts.

These cabinets have a great patina. Its wonderful and rare to have pair. less
