"Vintage Red Sports Car at the Races"
Beautiful large colour lithograph, in great condition, signed in pencil by the artist and numbered from an edition limited to only 175. This being numbered 48/175.
In this series “Femme et voiture”, Lebier brought together automobile icons of the 1920s and 1930s, such as Bugatti Royale or Duesenberg, and elegant women embodying the style of the Art Deco era.
After graduating from the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse then Paris, Daniel Lebier (b. 1941) became a versatile artist: he designed stage sets for a theatre company in Toulouse, was a fashion designer for Pierre Cardin, assisted Marc Chagall in the creation of the two murals decorating Lincoln Center in NYC, became a sculptor and, recently, got into performance. Laureate of several prestigious prices such as the Prix de Rome in 1966, he was only twenty six years old when he organised his first personal exhibition, sponsored by Amedeo Modigliani’s daughter, Jeanne. Since then, his works were and still are exhibited worldwide.
