The “pattern” is essentially a replica of the object about to be cast. Usually made out of wood, metal or model board, patterns are used to create cavities in molds. It is through pouring molten metal into these molds that aluminum castings are created. These beautiful patterns were handmade in the mills of America during the 1900's to create pieces of machinery during our Industrial Revolution. I have never personally seen a pattern of this length (9 Feet long!) or with this interesting zig zag design. It could be used as a decorative wall piece, mantel cover, top could be used to hold glassware in a bar or it could be a shelf for other decorative objects. A statement piece in any unique space. less
