This Mel Ramos Pop Art offset lithograph print De Young Museum poster " Superman " 1962, is a very special and unique piece to add to your collection. Published by The De Young Museum of Fine Arts San Francisco, printed in The United Sates in 2014. It features an artwork image originally created by Ramos in 1962 titled " Superman ".
Mel Ramos ( B. 1935 ) is an American Pop Art figurative painter of Portuguese Azorean descent best known for his paintings of superheroes and voluptuous female nudes. He first gained recognition and wide popularity as part of the Pop Art movement in the 1960's. Along with Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol, he was one of the first artists to create paintings of images from comic books, artworks of the three artists were exhibited together at The Los Angeles County Museum of Art in 1963.
He has produced art works that celebrate aspects of popular culture as represented in mass media. His paintings have been exhibited worldwide since the early 1960's, and are included in the collections of many of the most prestigious museums worldwide.
