Hand painted flowers, Mother of Pearl inlay with gold highlights. This chair was once owned by 20th Century Fox and was used as a movie prop. Inventory number is on the underside.

The Victorians fell in love with the ancient art of inlaid lacquer furniture. The lacquer did not hold up in the English climate however so they developed papier mache to mimic lacquer...it is sturdy when placed over wood. The chair is solid enough to use or be appreciated as a piece of art.

The chair is in excellent condition for its age. It once has a cane seat that was replaced with wood. They did a beautiful job. The lacquer and gold highlights show wear in a few spots. It is missing approx 4 tiny pieces of MOP. No creaks or wobble. See less
