The gessoed and … Read more This elegant pair of 19th c. candle prickets have a sophisticated gilt finish with red undertone accents. The gessoed and painted finish shows a romantically degraded surface appropriate for years of service. Gesso is a hard compound of plaster of Paris or whiting in glue, used in sculpture or as a base for gilding or painting on wood. The metal bobeches at the top of the prickets will conveniently catch the dripping candle wax. This timeless pair will make a special addition to your home or sanctuary.

Each pricket measures approximately:
22” High
6” Wide
5” Deep

There are areas that are worn, chipped & cracked, as shown in the photos. Some old touch ups were done. The patina has different grades of coloration and a time worn crunchy authentic surface, as shown in photos. Antique items have been previously owned and loved, and will show some level of wear consistent with this prior use.
