This is a beautiful hand blown example of a fun and colorful decanter carafe signed by Kosta Boda artist, Kjell Engman and numbered 89652. I purchased this out of the estate of Herbert & Norma Jean Fink in Bel Air, California. It measures 11.25" inches tall and is 6.25" inches wide and is in excellent unused condition. I believe it was made in the 1980s. Kjell Engman is a well listed artist with 92 auction records, his auction high is $6,310.00. Kjell Engman was born in (1946–) was one of Sweden’s leading glass artists in the 20th and 21st century. After his art studies at ”Konstfack” in Stockholm, he has worked for the Kosta Boda glassworks for more than 40 years. Kjell became a prominent designer of glass vases, bowls, and sculptures with kitschy and humorous expressions
Kjell Engman is a glass artist out of the ordinary, through his imagination and storytelling he creates fantastic beautiful art glass. In creating a design, I start with the circle of life. I like to make glass you can feel, glass that appeals to all of our senses and tries to make use of refraction and light. I want to paint pictures and tell stories all at the same time. What drives me, is a sort of inner search, in which curiosity, the mysterious and mythology are all important ingredients. Glass, the living solid, is my constant companion."
A tirelessly productive visual artist with unbounded imagination and a passion for narrative, who finds free expression through both utility glass and art glass. Kjell Engman gets his inspiration from the most diverse sources, not least from the animal kingdom and the world of music and entertainment. He often works on large installations in which he also combines elements of sound and light. Kjell Engman is frequently commissioned for public works both in Sweden and abroad less
