Vintage mid century green Oneida Ware melamine / melmac dining set: 21 pieces. The set includes 7 mugs, 1 creamer pitcher, 5 small plates, and 8 large bowls. They are a beautiful retro and ultra mod green color and have markings on the bottoms that read "Oneida" "Oneida Ware" and "OD". It's becoming harder and harder to find these fun pieces! This set could be used on it's own or mixed in with your current set. Melamine / melmac was introduced in the 1930's, but didn't become popular with the public until after WWII. There were many brands competing in this market. Oneida was manufactured in USA. This set is likely from the 1960's as Oneida was focusing on prints and children's pieces in the 1940's - 1950's.
In the 1950's, innovation, whether it was in automobiles, in homes or in fashion, was everywhere. It was precisely during this time that Americans began to set out meals on colorful, unbreakable and lightweight dishes called Melmac. This popular dishware appeared in many patterns and colors with appealing solid pastels, bright colors and distinctive patterns.
Perfect for your mid century dining needs (and you don't have to worry about breaking them!)
