This well cared for 65+ year old set of Taylor Smith & Taylor 1872 came with a Service for 12, that we have split into one Service for 8 and one Service for 4 (in separate listings). The salt & pepper shakers, relish tray, middle-sized platter and larger oval bowl did not come with the set. These additional pieces are hard to find.
The casserole lid has one 1/16" chip on the rim. There are no other chips nor any cracks.
The sugar bowl has heavy, obvious crazing all over (light crazing on the lid), the casserole bowl has small areas of crazing on the pedestal, and the gravy boat has crazing on the underside of the attached gravy plate. There are other scant hairlines throughout.
The salt and pepper shakers both have seven holes, and we are unsure if they were made this way, or if these are two salt shakers. There is heavy discoloration/staining on the undersides of the shakers. Additionally, one shaker is missing its cork stopper. Please note that after we took our pictures, we then removed the cork from the one stopper, and a chunk of cork broke off. It still works as intended, but the cork is brittle.
The large and medium platters and relish tray show the most wear in the platinum bands—and some utensil mark loss through the bands—with overall medium-ish utensil marks (about 2 to 3 per plate are cut/gouged into the surface).
The casserole lid finial has an 1/8" area of platinum loss.
The remaining pieces and parts have mostly fleabite color loss, as well as light utensil marks here and there, with some utensil marks in the platinum bands
The relish and large oval serving bowl are marked 1953. All other pieces are marked 1946 and 1948
