The finish has been lightly distressed, the seat has several small splits in the wood, there are a handful of small scratches or dings over the body of the piece. I chose not to fill them, as I believe they add to its overall character. less

This chair was made by N.M. Sargent's Sons, a manufacturer of unfinished furniture in Boonville, NY. Established in 1851, the Sargent's Sons brand is known for hand crafting heirloom quality furniture made from timber harvested in the Adirondack Mountains. Known particularly for their finely crafted chairs, their products are made by seasoned U.S. based woodworkers.
Perfect for a nursery or little's girl's room, this child's rocking chair is made of solid wood (maple) and has been painted (color: Cherubic) with two fleur de lis in opalescent pearl. It also received three coats of General Finishes polyurethane in satin finish for durability. Overall finish has a light sheen. It has been very lightly distressed, and reflects minor signs of wear that are consistent with age and use. Small marks or splits in the wood are part of the history of the piece, and in my estimation add to its overall character. Please review the photos carefully for a detailed view of this item.
The original maker's mark was a paper label glued to the underside of the piece. Only a small portion of it remained (and it is no longer attached), but it is included with the sale. less
