19th Century Hand Carved Swiss Desktop Bookends is a splendid way to keep books close at hand, and adjustable to whatever your current reading selection might entail! Hand-sculpted from old-growth sycamore, it features pierce-carved fully laden grapevine motifs on each end, hinged to drop down when not in use, and the platform upon which they are mounted is able to slide closed or open to accommodate a range of book widths. Ingenious and visually appealing at the same time! This wonderful work hails from Luzern, Switzerland.
Circa 1880s
Measures 7H x 15.5W x 7D; opens to 25W less
